I build things I want to use myself every day, which mostly means keeping them focused: one clear job, done properly, and reliable to the point where you stop thinking about it.
Right now that's mainly podsink. It records podcasts remotely, in the browser, so your guests don't have to install anything.

A link is all your guests need to join. Everything records locally on each machine, so a shaky connection never ends up in the recording.
It's a tool I rely on myself, for every recording of the smarthütte podcast since episode 30.
Tech talk among friends.
Two friends, their smart homes, self-hosting, the tech industry, and now and then an interview with someone who builds things. Andrej and I record it unscripted and uncut, for as long as the topic takes. The detours stay in, because that's usually where the good parts are.

Just me, in Aachen. I write the code, answer the email, and fix things when they break. What I care about:
I build software the way I want to use it myself. A clear idea of what a product is for keeps it slim, usable and maintainable, and for a one-person studio that isn't a luxury. It's the only way this works. Things get added when they actually matter, so it stays small and easy to find your way around.
Below 100 milliseconds a click feels instant. Past a second you notice the wait, and past ten you've moved on to something else. So that's what I aim for. Things should look good too, just never at the cost of those numbers.
Everything sits on European servers that I look after, and it's built to comply with the GDPR. A tool that quietly depends on a handful of platforms somewhere else isn't really mine, and it isn't really yours either. I'd rather not know more about you than I need to.
